Hope, agony, happiness: Shunno’s new music video perfectly summarizes what falling in love is like

When it comes to pioneering Bengali rock music, there is only a handful of bands that can do it as creatively and charismatically as Shunno. This fact was further fortified with their latest music video of their song “Jhoriye Dao”. A feel good song with an even more feel good music video!

Shunno’s brand new album “Lottery”

The video immediately captivates us as its theme is based on university life. Relatable for those who are still in their university life and nostalgia for those who have moved past it, the story revolves around a rugged boy and a gentle, docile girl. Despite having opposite characteristics, the boy is drawn towards the girl for her simplicity and dreams of being with her. The feeling becomes mutual when he one day stands up to some eave teasers for her. The girl cannot stop thinking about him at this point. The two were supposed to meet at a Shunno concert and the girl even adorns herself with a saree, flowers and a bindi but to her surprise, the boy doesn’t show up. The band can be seen performing in the background. With her heartbroken and tears streaming down, the girl returns home and receives a text from the boy asking her to go to her roof. Not knowing what to expect, she enters her roof only to find the skies lit up with lanterns. Our two protagonists then meet and as they approach one another, the camera pans away to the lanterns.

The video perfectly captures the agony of being in love and the unfathomable elation when things work out for us.  It also symbolises the fact that a tough exterior doesn’t necessarily mean the person has a tough interior as well. Needless to say, it was a touchy video; and the beautifully melancholic lyrics of the song just make it even more special.
