5 instances where football managers became laughing stocks

Footballers may be the backbone of the industry but football managers are the brains. Their strategies and tactics might make or break a club but at the end of the day they too are human beings and sometimes life just gets the better of them. From comments that backfired to rogue zippers to sheer irony, here are 5 times football managers made fools of themselves. Please note that we love and respect all of the names below and this is just banter.

Arsene Wenger vs. his coat

Arsene Wenger is a genius and also the longest serving manager in premier league history but he too has had some not so shining moments down the years and nothing is as hilarious as the sight of Wenger struggling with his coat.

Louis van Gaal’s epic dive

Van Gaal was yet another manager who tried to fill the shoes of Sir Alex Fergusson when he retired. His time in Manchester United was unspectacular with the Dutchman managing to clinch only one FA cup but he did have his shining moment with this gem of an impersonation of a dive.

That dive was majestic enough to win Olympic gold, won’t you agree?

Jose Mourinho and Kevin De Bruyne

Jose Mourinho is known as one of the most arrogant and successful personalities in the world of football. But he too can make mistakes and one of his most questionable decisions was to sell Kevin De Bruyne to Wolfsburg in 2014. Jose concluded that KDB was not fit to play in the Premier League but the Belgian won the Player of the Year award, made a mega money to Manchester City and helped his new team get a win over his old boss.

Jose Mourinho becomes Manchester United’s manager

Oh, the irony. Manchester United fans simply hated Mourinho and he wasn’t exactly their big fan either. It was funny for the rest of us to see him take charge of a club who is so fond (sarcasm intended) of him.

If not for their history, this would have been a pretty refreshing signing to be honest.

Alan Pardew’s dance number

Managers are usually famous for their greatness such as accolades or brilliant tactics others are famous for their antics. Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace went 1-0 up against Manchester United in the FA Cup final in 2016 and the manager celebrated like they had already won… sadly they didn’t but at least now we know that Pardew can move!

Dance like no one’s watching…although the entire world was.
