Taylor Swift still at the top with her album 1989; can’t say the same about Katy Perry’s Witness. Here’s why…

Taylor Swift and Katy Perry have always had a rivalry. To be honest, the word ‘rivalry’ falls short to describe the feud they’ve been carrying out; however, neither of the two pop stars ever confirmed it.  But from the looks of their passive aggressive tweets, it’s quite obvious that they’ve been staring daggers at each other for a long time.

The rivalry heated up recently when T-Swizzle conveniently decided to return to Spotify upon the release of Perry’s latest album Witness. And guess what? 1989 has been streamed more than Witness on Spotify with the former being streamed a mammoth 1.68 million times despite being 3 years older! Guess we are yet to shake off 1989 (pun intended) from our minds.

Katy Perry’s album

Although this was Swift’s first time out of her comfort zone of country music, she nailed it. Her upbeat tunes and charismatic lyrics coupled with Swift’s bubbly yet low-key sassy personality captivated audience and critics alike. The album sold over 3.6 million copies worldwide and also snatched up 3 Grammy awards. In contrast, Witness has only received mixed reviews not to mention that it has been shy of capturing our attention. So it comes as no surprise that even 3 years after its release, 1989 is still bossing it! Sorry Kates, looks like Swift has won this round.
