Turaag Active Dhaka 25K 2024, organised by Run Bangladesh, is a prestigious race that holds several distinctions. It is the first international 25K event in Dhaka to be certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races, also known as AIMS, the official governing body that certifies and endorses major road marathons globally. The race has also been granted associate membership privileges by AIMS. Additionally, it is the first World Athletics-certified measured course 25K race in the city.

Scheduled for 8 March 2024, Turaag Active Dhaka 25K 2024 will take place at Hatirjheel, featuring four race categories: 25 km, 10.3 km, 2.8 km, and a kids’ run, offering something for participants of all ages and skill levels. It is expected to draw over 2,000 participants, including 1,650 men and 350 women from across Bangladesh. The race will start at 4:30 am at Mogbazar Point, Hatirjheel, covering the entire Hatirjheel area and finishing at Police Plaza Point. The closing ceremony will be held from 9 am onwards.

Run Bangladesh introduced boot camps across Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet for the first time especially for this event, marking a milestone for the local running scene. Designed and facilitated by seasoned professionals in the field of running, these boot camps aimed to equip participants with fundamental knowledge and skills essential for race preparation and execution. They offered valuable insights that may not fully cater to every individual’s requirement but undoubtedly were beneficial to many. The boot camps provided an immersive learning experience, fostering a supportive environment where participants interacted, learned from experts, and shared experiences with fellow enthusiasts. 

Run Bangladesh has made significant contributions to the running community in Bangladesh by successfully organising events that have not only attracted runners from across the country but also gained international recognition. Notably, the Chattogram 25K 2023 was the nation’s first AIMS-certified international race at the 25 km distance, which saw 650 runners from eight countries participating at the University of Chittagong. Additionally, Run Bangladesh organised the Sylhet 25K 2023, which was Sylhet’s first AIMS-certified international race at the 25 km distance, attracting 900 runners from five nations. The Chattogram Trail Half Marathon 2022 provided an opportunity for runners to explore the scenic trails of Chattogram, while the Akahura Half Marathon 2021 aimed to promote the beauty and cultural heritage of Akahura, a historic village in Bangladesh. Run Bangladesh has played a pivotal role in promoting running as a sport and a healthy way of life in the country. Their efforts have not only encouraged local runners but also attracted international participants, showcasing the potential of Bangladesh as a destination for marathon and running competitions.

Turaag Active Dhaka 25K 2024 promises to be an exciting event that celebrates the city’s heritage, promotes health and community engagement, and provides participants with valuable insights and training opportunities.
