Chaman’s Flair

To commemorate International Woman’s Day Renowned fashion designer Chaman Chowdhury’s new Boishakhi & Eid Collection was showcased on March 9 titled “Chaman’s Cruiseline 2020 Runway” with live music at Dhaka Lakeshore Hotel. This was her first solo runway in Bangladesh. However, the talented individual amassed her experience by participating in various fashion runways both at home and abroad earlier in her career.
Among the clothes, she displayed local attire and cloth, like gamcha, manipuri, jamdani, muslin, khadi and jute. The ramp show was graced by women entrepreneurs and former adviser to the caretaker government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Geeti Ara Safia Chowdhury, actress Shampa Reza, Famous Singer Ankhi Alamgir and Super Model Mou along with 30 other models. This one of a kind ramp show was choreographed with live music.

Popular singer Shwapnil Shojib Composed the music for the evening. He, singer Tamanna Prome and his grand orchestration performed music. Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malek MP was the chief guest on the occasion, and Thai Ambassador to Thailand Arunrung Phothong Humphreys and Maldives Ambassador Aishath Shaan Shakir were present as special guests. Chaman has been working with domestic weaving and indigenous textiles for almost 25 years.
Chaman is very popular at home and abroad for her unique design and fancy creations. More than a hundred weavers are employed by her organization.
