When Bangladeshis all over the world celebrated the beauty of our mother language and honoured the martyrs of our nation, an uprising community of female travellers united under one roof. Enthusiasts across all corners of Bangladesh escaped from their monotonous daily chores and participated in rounds of activities to share their love for travelling with strangers who, at the end of the day, became amazing friends! We are talking about a community that is solely dedicated to female travel enthusiasts who inspire women alike to explore both Bangladesh and beyond. A community that has become one of the most trend-setting cults of Bangladesh – Wander Woman.
Wander Woman, founded by Sabira Mehrin, started its journey with a Facebook group in September last year. Within a span of four months, Wander Woman became a community of 5,000+ members from all around the globe who support each other through unbiased reviews, trip recommendations and travel partners.
According to Sabira, this was a much-needed platform since it gets very difficult to find the right information for the right place at the right time when it comes to trip planning, especially when you are a female. The platform helps travellers share their memories, first-hand experience and itinerary through fruitful and healthy discussions and posts.
On February 21, Wander Woman successfully hosted its first grand meetup ESCAPADE at The Base Camp with over 90 female travel enthusiasts from Bangladesh. The Base Camp and Thousand Miles Expedition arranged the event through sponsorship from TVS Auto Bangladesh and IDC BD. ICE Today was the magazine partner along with radio partner Radio Foorti. Stellar – a bespoke creative décor platform – decked up the venue keeping Wander Woman’s theme in mind. Every member was given goodie bags designed by BookmyLook, bookmarks from Epilogue and ICE Today magazine. The guests also enjoyed the evening with scrumptious brownies from The SweetSin Coffees.
There were six activities including a horse race, the giant shoe, tic-tac-toe, archery, tree top and tug of war. The grand winner won the Base Camp Award, alongside a complimentary one-night stay at Sairu Hill Resort powered by Chologhuri Travel Agency. Other top performers received gifts from Choc of the Town and Mehar’s. Every participant received a Tribe card as a privilege pass to upcoming events by Wander Woman.
Wander Woman has indeed become a reliable source of inspiration and information through building unique crowdsource platform exclusive for female travellers from Bangladesh and beyond. After the success of such a grand arrangement, Wander Woman looks forward to having bigger global tours with this amazing community that’s growing larger and stronger by the minute.
