Born and raised in England, former One Direction member, Zayn Malik has not shied away from his sub-continental roots. The Dusk Till Dawn crooner has announced that he will collaborate with none other than the musical guru A R Rahman himself.

Following his announcement, Zayn has been actively posting clips of him singing Hindi songs. For a non-Hindi speaker, Zayn makes a commendable effort, however, his recent cover of Kailash Kher’s famed Teri Deewani was less than impressionable to many audience. The cover of the hit classic misses the mark and leaves fans with a lasting cringe.

The reviews poured in, and they were not favourable, to say the least. Fans vehemently expressed their displeasure at Zayn’s less than admirable vocals. Though all hope is not lost for the hugely successful artist, since the original singer of Teri Deewani, Kailash Kher has given Zayn his approval and hopes that the two singers will collaborate in the future. Good on you, Zayn!
