Recently JCI Dhaka West organized an awareness session on the discrimination faced by the women on workplace and at home under their project “না বলা কথা-(Lost Voices)”. Several women from diverse background joined the session and talked about various issues they face on a daily basis. The session was moderated by Ms. Rumpa Sayeda Farzana Zaman, Editor of Dhaka Tribune and one of the leading icon to deal with women empowerment in many platforms.
Multiple problems including wage gap, sexual harassments, mental torture came to light when participants share their personal life. Since this was a close door women-centric session, participants were eager to share their views as secrecy was promised. Few of those stories brought tears to the eyes of many, but at the end, they realized “We are Not Alone”.
The sessions will continue throughout the year with a vision of coming up with a proper plan of action that needs to be implemented in the local offices to avoid further discrimination and torture. One thing participants agreed that Men should also be a part of this process, so that they understand, realize and take actions to ensure that lost voices get heard.
