The restaurant business is arguably one of the most rapidly growing businesses of our city. Much like that annoying auntie who keeps showing up to your house, a new one pops up every other day. It is virtually impossible to keep up. To gain a competitive edge, restaurants are coming up with newer innovations. For instance recently Mexwel Robot Restaurant in Mirpur introduced robots that serve food (Yes, the future is here!). What other innovations can we come up with? Well, we have a few ideas; some of them are slightly more “eccentric” than others, but have a look regardless.
1. A restaurant for the lonely
Don’t you just hate eating all by yourself? I mean even if you are not single but you just happen to be in a restaurant alone and there are people looking at you and you can’t help but feel judged… oh God the horror! What if there was a restaurant that had mirrors sitting just opposite to you? Or may be a stuffed toy? You’ll never feel alone!
2. Doggo World
One thing our country lacks is pet themed restaurants. London has a pug café, Malaysia has Corgi & the gang pet café and there’s the famous Caturday cat café in Bangkok. In addition to being an absolute treat for animal lovers and offering us to dine with our furry best friends, this can also be a great initiative to provide shelter for local cats and dogs that don’t have homes.
3. Café de Toilette
Believe it or not but this is actually a very popular theme around the world with China, Taiwan and even Las Vegas adopting it. You can sit on a commode to chow down or lie down in a bathtub to simply relax while eating, either way you will be provided with an intriguing but somewhat bizarre dining experience.
4. Dining with the stars
Picture this, you wearing your best outfit and enjoying a nice night out with Shah Rukh Khan. You heard that right! Much like the famous Madame Tussauds, this place will feature wax versions of your favourite celebrity and you come in, dine with them, take selfies and post them online. Be the star you were.
