Elie Saab’s latest couture collection from Fall 2017 is straight out of Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones is back and there isn’t a day you can scroll through your newsfeed without a whiff of this series! The show not only had a great effect on the people’s Sunday nights (Monday for us Bangladeshis), conversations, hairstyles, makeup inspiration and has had a huge impact on the fashion industry as well. Elie Saab, a renowned Lebanese designer premiered his latest designs on the runway a week before Game of Thrones’ season 7 premier. Although, the designer never said that the show was used as inspiration, but once you look at the pieces you can’t help but draw connections between both.

Game of Thrones has had number of female characters showcasing outrageously gorgeous wears. Cersei, Sansa Stark, Daenerys, Margaery, even short roles by Red Priestess Melisandre, Myrcella and Ellaria Sand and the Sandsnakes and many others all adorn elaborate gown and sumptuous capes which leave us gasping.

Elie Saab in his show note said, the collection is meant to evoke “Fallen kings, defeated by a fearless and heroic sisterhood. Bright and brave warrior queens they were, are, and forever will be.” Even that sounds fitting to be from Westeros.

Check out some of the most striking resemblances to the show we found on the runway.
