7 promising filmmakers are launching their brand new independent short drama on-screen for the occasioan of Eid-ul-Azha. The young and talented directors will be supervised by Amitabh Reza Chowdhury, the brilliant and Mezbaur Rahman Sumon. The dramas will be broadcasted by GTV on the 7 consecutive days of Eid. Here are 7 reasons why we are excited:
1. Amitabh Reza Chowdhury
Everything the man touches turns to gold. Well, not literally but we have to admit that this man has given us masterpieces. I bet you all remember the famous Bangla series which used to air on Ekushey TV called Bondhon. Before we could recover from the excitement garnered by Aynabaji, he steps foot into yet another exclusive venture.
2. Mejbaur Rahman Sumon
Another renowned director joining Amitabh Reza on the venture is Mejbaur Rahman Sumon. Like they say “Two is better than one.”
3. Fresh out of the oven
In most film and television industries all over the world, there’s quite a tight scope for young, ambitious and new filmmakers. Anticipation is clouding as people are excited to get acquainted with the 7 directors and their works.
4. Versatile scripts
All of the 7 directors are new story tellers. It is expected that they will be delivering something different and refreshing this Eid. Moreover, each of the 7 stories ought to have its own essence and elements. We just can’t wait!
5. The promising tag line
Their tag line “Golpo premikar moto obhimani hoy,” is a very poetic line with lots of emotions and attachment to it, which goes to show that these short dramas will perhaps be more thought provocative rather than being commercial and entailing a generic storyline like most Eid series.
6. The Promo
The colours look brilliant; having said that, the cinematography of the promo is top notch. There’s so much thought and creativity put into the promotional video, imagine how much more effort and creativity has been poured into each of the drama.
7. Out of the box
If you’re watching the promotional video for the first time, you might mistake it for a trailer for Avatar. However, as you keep watching, you start to notice the little details that scream of something much more unique in the Bangladeshi context. The promo may give off a sci-fi feel but it seems to revolve around different stories and how stories are embedded everywhere.
