Setting fire to the ramp is second nature to Meghla; she certainly knows more than a few poses to own the runway. In a short span of time, she’s garnered a lot of fame and popularity; let’s get to know the diva, shall we?

What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
If I stay home, I go out for a walk with my mom early in the morning. Some days I have to get out early for shooting. Normally on a holiday, I would wake up late and try to spend time with my family.

Describe your personal style in one sentence
Fashion to me is comfort.

What was your funniest memory on the runway?
I don’t know if it’s funny but I had once broken my heel on the runway. I didn’t realise it at first. As I walked on the ramp I noticed that somehow I had slid to a side. I looked down to see that one of heels was lying on the stage! I still continued walking on the ramp as confidently and quickly as I could. I won’t say it’s entirely funny but it is definitely one of the most memorable moments of my life!

What do you think about when you’re in front of the camera?
When I face the camera, my mind goes blank. That’s how I try to focus on the work at hand.

How do you deal with criticism?
There was a time when they used to bother me. However now, I take them positively. As for people talking about me and what I do, I believe in the saying that “any publicity is good publicity.” If something is too painful, I would come home and share it with my mom. But I normally don’t get bothered by what people say behind my back.

What’s the hardest part about being a model?
Some things can be both hard and easy. It all depends on our mindset. When it comes to the fashion industry, patience is a quintessential factor. Good times and bad times both come and go. You may get rejected. There may be a lot of conspiracy. But whatever happens, you cannot break down. You have to be patient and firm in your resolution.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
I would like to be known as an actress in the next 5 years. And I don’t just want to become a popular actress but I also want to do something influential in the film industry of Bangladesh or abroad through which people will remember my name.

What’s your fitness regime?
I am a food freak. I eat every two hours. However, I try not to eat carbs after 5 pm. I would usually go to the gym for an hour whenever I can. Besides for that, I try to swim regularly and also walk with my mom at dawn every now and then to stay fit.

Three tips you’d give to new comers in the modelling industry?
First of all, you need to know what’s suitable for you. Some have a natural flare for the ramp while others are photogenic. You need to know your forte and work on that. Secondly, you have to be patient.  Some may become successful in a year or two while for others, it may take more time to establish themselves as prominent models. Never lose heart, keep gaining as much experience as you can. Thirdly, be careful with your attitude while working in the fashion industry. Some models tend to become conceited and arrogant once they get a taste of fame. You have to keep a positive attitude towards your work and your peers at all times. And lastly, like any other profession, punctuality is key.

Well, I never had to go through a break up but a few days back, I had an argument with my boyfriend. I had shooting the next day and was pretty upset so I couldn’t really focus. I put on the ‘Break Up’ song from the movie Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. I listened to it for three to four hours and it helped.
