Creative Director of premium fashion brand Raw Nation, Maroofa Islam shares her thoughts on the brand and what sets them apart in the men’s clothing industry
How does the name Raw Nation represent your apparel line?
“Raw Nation” represents the youth of our beautiful country Bangladesh. Our current generation is much more dynamic than ever before. At this age they are raw and are willing to learn and grasp new ideas. Our apparel line is also fresh and it depicts a strong and positive outlook.
What inspired you to bring out a junior exclusive collection and how has the response been so far?
Over the years we have seen that our junior boys and teens of ages 1 to 16 are unable to find their desired clothes. The choices are very limited in the present market. So our aim is to fill this gap and add a little bit of happiness by providing them choices of apparels exclusively for them.
What are the major criteria you focus on when designing denim (cut, fabric, stitch and distress)? How does raw nation’s denims set itself apart from other local brands?
We choose the best fabric made of a special yarn T400, which provides most comfort and durability. To produce the best quality, denim is always our main focus. We have tie-ups with international laundries to achieve premium finish with the best chemicals in the market to produce these denims. Also keeping in mind the weather conditions, we have chosen a light weight fabric which stretches comfortably and also has an easy fit.
Who are your design icons that you draw inspiration from?
Abercrombie and Fitch, Diesel, Replay, Massimo Dutti and Zara are our benchmark brands.
Who is the Raw Nation MAN?
Raw Nation MAN is someone who is positive and strong. He is intelligent and full of confidence. He loves to explore the world and break out of his comfort zone.
