Celebrating Folk Roots with Pithas and Lalon

In celebration of Bangladesh’s folk roots, The Westin Dhaka, in association with Standard Chartered Bank Bangladesh and Coca-Cola International Beverages Private Limited, hosted a grand pitha festival “Folk Roots” on 25th January 2016 at the Grand Ballroom of The Westin Dhaka. The festive evening showcased a decadent selection of pithas from all over Bangladesh which ended with an enchanting musical performance by sensational folk-fusion band Lalon. Guests were offered over 20 different types of pithas from all over the country such as patishapta, chitoi, puli, muksola, lobongo lotika, malpua, bhapa, nokshi, etc. Phuchka, lassi, mezbani beef, chicken roast and many other tantalizing dishes kept everyone busy throughout the festive evening.

Lalon A rustic setting full of activities was certainly a crowd-puller. A fortune teller to read into your future, looking into the bioscope, the sound and beats of dholoks and folk dancers made the event a true celebration giving guests the chance to walk down memory lane. Amit Paul, Director of Sales & Marketing, The Westin Dhaka; Abrar A Anwar, CEO, Standard Chartered Bank Bangladesh; Aditya Mandloi, Head of Retail Banking, Standard Chartered Bank Bangladesh; Tapas Kumar Mondal, Managing Director, Coca-Cola International Beverages Private Limited, and other high officials and guests from The Westin Dhaka, Standard Chartered Bank Bangladesh and Coca-Cola International Beverages Private Limited were all part of the celebrations.
