THE EMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF TÜRKIYE IN DHAKA HAS RECENTLY BEEN FACILITATING VARIOUS ENGAGEMENTS THAT HIGHLIGHT THE BEAUTIFUL CONFLUENCE OF THE TWO CULTURES.
Türkiye is currently one of the most popular travel destinations for people across the world, including Bangladeshis. From literature to famous avenues, our admiration for the nation can be traced throughout our anthro-social history.
In order to celebrate Turkish food and culture, and to strengthen its relationship with our country, The Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Dhaka has recently been facilitating various engagements that highlight the beautiful confluence of the two cultures.
CULINARY ENCOUNTERS
The Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Dhaka initiated Culinary Encounters in celebration of the inaugural Turkish Cuisine Week. It was an exciting evening of culinary adventure hosted by Ambassador HE Mustafa Osman Turan at the embassy premises on May 24 2022, presenting Turkish cuisine in its original glory at the gala.
A gastronomy book titled Turkish Cuisine with Timeless Recipes was recently published under the leadership of First Lady Emine Erdoğan and under the auspices of the Presidency, in cooperation with the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The book features contributions from prominent chefs, academics, and experts; simultaneously, it draws attention to the famous Turkish cuisine and its waste-free, ecological, and sustainable characteristics. Turkish Cuisine Week is the celebration of the initiative; a culinary story articulated through the language of flavours.
CULINARY ENCOUNTERS SERVED SOME DISHES FROM THE TWO HUNDRED AND EIGHTEEN RECIPES FEATURED IN TURKISH CUISINE WITH TIMELESS RECIPES WHICH WAS PREPARED FOR THE GALA BY TURKISH CHEF LEVENT KARAHAN
In celebration, Culinary Encounters served some dishes from the two hundred and eighteen recipes featured in Turkish Cuisine with Timeless Recipes which was prepared for the gala by Turkish Chef Levent Karahan, Executive Chef of Le Méridien, Dhaka. Culinary Encounters hosted a diverse group of 60 distinguished guests, including business people, artists, journalists, influencers and food bloggers. The partners of the event were Bengal Group, ICE Media Limited, Le Méridien Dhaka and Maasranga Television. Turkish Cuisine week in Dhaka ended with a traditional Turkish breakfast at the Turkish Embassy residence on May 27.
MUSICAL ENCOUNTERS
As part of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye’s greater initiative to fortify the affiliation between Bangladesh and Türkiye, Ambassador HE Mustafa Osman Turan also hosted an event to indulge in and appreciate the food and music of Bangladesh.
The enthralling evening featured classical recitals of sarod and tabla, followed by renditions of Rabindra Sangeet. The guests, which included diplomats and ambassadors, were entralled by the enchanting musical recitals. The menu had a range of flavourful Bangladeshi dishes, including mutton kacchi and wrapped up the night with the comfort of traditional sweets.
OVER THE LAST DECADE, TÜRKIYE HAS BECOME ONE OF BANGLADESH’S CLOSEST ALLIES. FROM HISTORICAL SOAP OPERAS TO VIRAL SONGS, THE GROWING TURKISH CULTURAL INFLUENCE IS INCREASINGLY BECOMING VISIBLE IN OUR SOCIETY.
Over the last decade, Türkiye has become one of Bangladesh’s closest allies. From historical soap operas to viral songs, the growing Turkish cultural influence is increasingly becoming visible in our society. Subsequently, Turkish businesses are flocking to Bangladesh as the demand for Turkish products are on the rise. With the relationship between the two countries at its peak, the country looks to deepen ties with Bangladesh over the coming years with diplomatic and cultural engagements.
