JCI Dhaka East launches Project Betterkind with JCI New York City
JCI Dhaka East launched Project Betterkind with JCI New York City on 9th April 2022. Betterkind is JCI New York City’s award-winning project which focuses on building good habits to make oneself healthier, more productive and more resilient. Dr Kurt Barnes conducted the first session of the project from France on Zoom. In 2004 he was Knighted in the Order of Academic Palms of the French Republic for his outstanding service. The topic for the first session was ‘Empowering Leaders against the Care Bear Attitude’.
During the first session, the 2022 Local President of JCI Dhaka East, Tahsin Azim Shezan, and 2022 Local President for JCI New York, Vreeshini Raojee, graciously marked their presence along with Project Director Tahsin Jaman and Project Lead Ahmed Imtiaz Samad.
This year the program will focus on building workplace habits and help to develop skill sets to future proof our lives and allow us to create a more significant impact on the job market. The participants will learn about the latest research on habit formation and why some habits are easier to change than others. They will also understand how to correctly choose their life goals and missions to build practices that don’t conflict with their long-term goals.
CERTIFICATES OF PARTICIPATION WILL BE AWARDED TO ALL PARTICIPANTS AFTER COMPLETION OF TRAINING, WHICH WILL GO ON TILL AUGUST.
In August, the participants will have to practise the habits they pick for 21 days in the ‘21 days habit practice challenge.’ Participants who complete the 21-day training will receive a Betterkind Champion Medal. Certificates of participation will be awarded to all participants after completion of training, which will go on till August. Fifty participants in total have registered and are expected to complete the training.
Bettterkind has two main course units – Habit Theory and Habit Practice. In the Habit Theory unit, the participants will learn about the latest research on habit formation and why some habits are easy to change and others are not. The participants will learn about willpower and how to manage mental and physical energy properly. In the Habit Practice unit, participants will choose one particular habit they want to implement right away using the framework from the theory section. During the practice, they will share their daily progress and struggles in building the habit with the rest of the group. They will also meet in Learning Circles with guest speakers to discuss their success in consistently building their habits. On top of
this, participants will join 3 group challenges to help them get out of their comfort zone.
