Tell us about the early days of Star Tech? How did it all start?

Star Tech & Engineering Ltd. started its journey in March 2007 in a small shop at Multiplan Computer Center, Dhaka. Although there were numerous challenges initially, we continued to expand by providing top-notch services to the customers. It allowed us to accumulate a significant amount of ndedicated customers. Subsequently, we began opening branches in IDB, Chattogram, Uttara, Rangpur, Pragati Sharani, Khulna, and Gazipur and we also started developing our e-commerce platform around the same time. We began operating a Corporate department, Vendor/dealer department and started getting recognised by many well-known brands like HP, DELL, Lenovo, Cisco etc.

Currently, we are the authorized distributors of 24 famous computer, gaming accessories and component brands in Bangladesh like Antec, Asrock, eset, Maxgreen, Gamdias, Team, Razer, Lian-Li, galax, Zyxel, Kwg, EKWB, Noctua, R&M, Technoware, XFX, Cryorig, Bitfenix and Palit.

Star Tech & Engineering Ltd is currently one of the leading tech retailers in Bangladesh. What has been the secret behind the astounding success?

Our business motto is ‘Customers Come First’ – we always try to provide quality products and the best service. We have been successfully maintaining a high customer satisfaction and retention rate from the very start of our journey. Our management takes every customer complaint seriously and ensures they are followed up on and are taken care of. Star Tech believes in building a dedicated customer base by providing immaculate service.

How would you assess the effects of the pandemic on the tech market?

Arguably, the pandemic was one of the most challenging periods for the global tech business due to the amount of uncertainty it brought with it. Conversely, the pandemic induced lockdowns facilitated a new era for the global tech market as technology became an integral part of our lives. The mass adaptation of technology has been aided by the Government’s vision of Digital Bangladesh; I thank them for the continued support towards all the stakeholders of the industry, including facilitating safe and efficient delivery of products to the customers. Overall, it has been quite a learning experience for the industry.

Star Tech has a spectacular e-commerce website with a growing customer base. How crucial is the platform for the company’s long-term strategy?

E-commerce has become an essential part of our daily lives. Everyone expects a comfortable and reliable way to purchase online. During the pandemic, we have provided efficient service through our e-commerce platform and online infrastructure. We assess that an excellent online presence and service facilitates greater customer satisfaction and retention rate. Subsequently, Star Tech has introduced new features on its online platform, including priority customers, Star points, coupons and vouchers to make online shopping more lucrative. Therefore, the e-commerce platform is an integral part of our future expansion, and we are working towards making it increasingly efficient and competent.

Star Tech & Engineering Ltd has already won over Bangladeshi tech consumers with quality and competency. How do you envision its growth over the next decade?

We are working restlessly to develop strategies to improving our service. We want to win over the consumers in the country with our products and top-notch service. Subsequently, there is a plan in place to open more branches across the country that will enable us to reach the masses. We also intend to produce different tech accessories and components in Bangladesh.
