SULTANA’s DREAM presents, a short film grant competition for women storytellers

Begum Rokeya, a pioneer of women’s education in South Asia wrote a novel in 1902: Sultana’s Dream. It’s a science fiction set in a world where women operate in the public space, and in order to maintain purdah, men have gone into the zenanas (inner quarters).

We invite women to submit their proposals for 5-8 mins short films of any genre or style. Fiction, documentary, visual essay, animation, experimental—all are welcome. Film topics should relate to women’s experiences of sexual abuse and survival. We encourage you to break the silence. Tell their stories. We will provide mentorship, logistics, and financial support for the selected projects. One needs to mail the following details: Director’s Note (1000 words), Synopsis (1000 words), One Line Budget, Visual Reference by 31 January 2021 for submitting the project.
