It’s been a while since we talked about Novastudio Production’s latest fashion news. For the past month, Novastudio Production has done a lot of work with their students, consisting of three photographers and three makeup artists. By the end of the month, due to a competitive basis of the entire masterclass, only four students got a chance to continue their studies. We have found incredible potential in local specialists, and generally, in the whole of Bangladesh. But for selecting our candidates during masterclass, they would have to complete certain tasks given to them. This way, we could observe how effectively they learn and how they apply their garnered knowledge. Due to a student’s results, we were able to make a further selection because the potential is its base, but it’s nothing without improvement of skills.

Additionally, by the end of each month, Novastudio Production organizes a kind of
examination for skill practices. We decided that a fashion photoshoot would be the most suitable way for testing our candidates. This process goes on for the candidates until they are shortlisted for further involvement. By seeing their improvements, we select people who will stay with our team. We are trying our best to develop and improve the professional skills of our students. That’s why we are proud of the work which they have presented by combining their own professionalism and knowledge of our European specialists, who were mentoring them every day during master classes.

For the past month, our selected students have gone through plenty of fashion classes. But this time, we decided to combine it with cultural aspects, which determine the main contrasts of the fashion industry. Nowadays, there are so many differences in the meaning of “fashion”. There are so many definitions to this word and all of them have different understandings in various parts of the world.

The reason isn’t just down to the taste, but the cultures of a given nation. We used to wear different types of clothing because the clothes we wear represent who we are. It speaks for us like a language by telling people what our culture is and which traditions we represent.

Our clothes are woven into our history and heritage. For example, sarees used to be worn
without a blouse or petticoat underneath them. It was only under the British Raj, where this was seen as improper to prudish Victorians, that these garments became commonplace. In these ways, the history of India and Bangladesh are faded into the sarees itself. Because of this link to heritage and culture, cultural appropriation is a very important issue. By coming to Bangladesh we wanted to share the knowledge of different nations in fashion skills and to reconcile all of it with local traditions. We do it because we want to make the fashion industry even more unique than it is right now and we have a strong belief that the world should know more about the incredible culture of Bangladesh.
That’s why we started with our students by enriching their knowledge. It’s because people are creators and by learning new skills, they can create new ideas. The new era of fashion is coming soon, but it should start with people who will bring it to our lives. Let all of us decide which future we want to build and how beautiful it will be. How far can we go? Time will tell, but we will do everything for the purpose of creating a new era of outstanding fashion history.
