Stepping it up

The 2015 Manyavar Bangladesh Premiere League which began in April is still going strong in Dhaka and Chittagong. The clubs are now facing each other  in the second phase of the tournament and it will continue in the coming month as well. So far, the following matches have taken place as per the fixtures set by Bangladesh Football Federation.  A match between Brothers Union and Team BJMC resulted in a 2-2 draw in the second phase of the 2015 Manyavar Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday. Brothers Union’s forward Augustine Walson took his team ahead in the 7th minute as the Nigerian’s tricky placing on a cross of Kester Akon landed into the post which earned them the first score for the match. BJMC’s midfielder Abdullah Parvez sent a cracking left footer from the top of the box, Eleta Kingsley kicked the ball into the goal post. Walson struggled to keep up in the 32nd minute when he fired the ball over the crosspiece from the spot. The penalty was given when Abdullah Parvez caught Brothers midfielder Emrul Hasan Emu off guard. In the 62nd minute Walson charged through the BJMC defense, dribbled past three defenders and cut an in-swinging rightfooter into the far post. Nigerian midfielder Samson Illiasu equalized match with a placing shot on a cross of Eleta Kingsley. So far, Brothers Union has twenty-one points from eleven matches while BJMC has nine from the same number of matches.

Sheikh Jamal started the second phase of the Manyavar Bangladesh Premier League with a record breaking 9-1 win against Farashganj SC at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday.

Jamal beat Uttar Baridhara 8-0 last season to set the record of the biggest win the premier league.

Gambian forward Landing Darboe lead the team forward in the 8th minute when midfielder Alamgir Kabir Rana cut a square pass to the Gambian who scored the first goal for the match. Haitian striker Wedson Anselme scored his seventh league goal in the 26th minute from a low cross of Landing Darboe. Farashganj reduced the margin in the 38th minute and it was a superb strike of Nigerian forward Akinyele Peter. Peter dribbled past Yamin Munna and Keshto Kumar before sending the ball in the far post which earned them the second goal for the match. However, Jamal’s two goal lead was back in the 45th minute when Wedson scored his second of the match with a diving header on a cross of Sohel Rana. Wedson completed his hattrick in the 52nd minute when he made his way through the Farashganj defense and kept his cool to beat goalie Sujan Chowdhury in the near post which led to a score of 4-1. Mamunul Islam scored the fifth in the 53rd minute off a penalty (5-1). Wedson took his tally to ten goals in the 66th minute capitalising a low cross of Mamunul Islam (6-1).The seventh goal was netted by Mamunul Islam in the 73rd minute as his curving left footer from 20 yards looped into the net. The eighth goal was scored by Taklis Ahmed in the 83rd minute when he received a cross at the top of the box and placed the ball past Sujan Chowdhury. Mamunul Islam completed his first hattrick and secured the ninth goal for Jamal with a powerful left footer form 30 yards in the 90th minute. (9-1)After this win, Sheikh Jamal took their tally to twenty-six points for playing eleven matches while Farashganj remained with four points playing eleven matches also.

Muktijoddha Sangsad KC and Soccer Club Feni tied the game to a draw in the tournament at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday. Feni came close to score in the 15th minute when forward Iqbal Hossain Bhuiyan’s header was averted by Muktijoddha’s goalie Titumir Chowdhury on a cross of defender Emran Hossain Rimon from the right. In the 47th minute, Muktijoddha’s midfielder Naeemur Rahman Shahed took a shot which hit the side of the goalpost. Further into the game, Muktijoddha forward Rokonuzzaman Kanchon seized the moment at the 90th minute. Midfielder Shamol Ahmed Rony sent a pass to Kanchan who shot the ball over the post. This match earned Muktijoddha twenty points for eleven matches while Feni earned nine points for the same number of matches as well.
Mohammedan Sporting Club secured a 3-1 victory over Chittagong Abahani in the 2015 Manyavar Bangladesh Premier League at the MA Aziz Stadium, Chittagong on Monday. Chittagong Abahani was ahead in the game because Forward Choumrin Rakhain scored the first goal of the match in the 27th minute. Guinean forward Ismail Bangoura scored the first goal for Mohammedan in the 66th minute Which tied both teams to 1-1.  Mohammedan charged through Chittagong Abahani’s defender Mintu Sheikh in the 79th minute. Finally Tawhidul Alam Sabuz sealed the victory for Mohammedan with a score of 2-1. After this win, Mohammedan took their tally to twenty-nine points from eleven matches while Chittagong Abahani remained with five points from the same number of matches.
