Life can be unreasonably difficult for those of you who’ve got extra sensitive skin that breaks out into rashes from something as simple as eating shrimp to getting bitten by a mosquito. While scratching seems like a short-term relief, it would only result in long-term pangs when you’re left with not just rash bumps but also very prominent marks. However science, along with nature, has always been a saviour for mankind and its many ailments. In fact, here are six sure-fire cures that’ll work wonders for your skin, leaving it soft, supple and of course rash-free!
Cool it!
When your skin’s feeling all red, bumpy and irritable, cream based substances may not necessarily work as your skin is warm to the touch, so it views everything else as a threat. However, using a cool compressor has been proven to bring the pain and the itchiness down to a minimum.
Oat is this?
If you think oatmeal’s only good for digestion, think again! Using colloidal oatmeal has shown results in providing relief for rashes. In fact, Ranella Hirsch, MD – a Boston dermatologist says, “Oatmeal is a humectants, meaning it helps moisturise skin, and it contains inflammation-quelling compounds.” Here’s how you do it: Add one to two cups of colloidal oatmeal to lukewarm water and soak for half an hour. Steer clear from hot water as it’ll only make the itchiness worse.
Oil good
Whether you drizzle it on your salad or massage it onto your scalp, olive oil is equally good for your skin and the perfect potion to cure rashes. Packed with vitamin E and antioxidants, it helps nourish the skin and reduce the itching. Slather some on to get the beautiful rash-free skin you deserve.
Aloe’ve you
When skin rashes are on the rise, you can always bank on aloe vera to cure your blues. Its antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory and emollient properties will not only heal your skin but also cool the irritation caused by the rashes. You can either buy aloe vera sticks from your local grocer or just purchase the gel from your nearest drugstore.
Baking soda bath
Baking soda works as a miracle agent for skin cleansing and keeping rashes at bay is one of them. Draw yourself a nice cool bath and add a cup of baking soda into it; soak for about half an hour to get maximum relief. Voila! You’ll be rash free in no time.
Apple cider relief
As pungent as it smells, apple cider vinegar has a bunch of healing properties, including the rash you’re sporting. Dab some of it on the affected areas using a cotton compress, as it helps pull the toxin out of the skin. Moreover, apple cider is anti-septic and anti-fungal which aids in combating other skin infections as well.
