Sonam Kapoor and her boyfriend Anand Ahuja have finally set a date to get hitched. They are scheduled to tie the knot on May 8 confirmed by the Kapoor and Ahuja families. They released a statement saying “The Kapoor and Ahuja families take great joy and pride in announcing the marriage of Sonam and Anand. The wedding will take place on the 8th of May in Mumbai. Since it is an intimate affair, we request you to respect the family’s need for privacy. Thank you for all your blessings and love, as we celebrate this special moment in our lives.”
Farah Khan is reportedly in charge of the choreographing while Karan Johar is arranging the duos Sangeet. The environmentally conscious couple opted for e-invites to skip wastage of paper. The invites include three separate functions- mehendi, the wedding and the party. The invites are beautifully ordained with different designs of foliage. The functions will be held at Bandra Kurla Complex, Bandra Bandstand and The Leela hotel, respectively. The two families have also stated dress codes for the separate functions and added a little note: “Your presence on our special day is the only gift we desire.”
Entrepreneur Anand Ahuja and finance Sonam Kapoor, has never publicly admitted to their relationship before this. They are rumoured to be dating for two years and were frequently spotted together on both social media and real life.
Anand Ahuja is a Delhi-based businessman. He and his family are in the clothing manufacturing business. He owns a band called Bhane.
We can expect a simple yet elegant wedding as Sonam, at an interview with Dubai-based portal The National said that she would ‘rather give the money away’ than spending it on lavish weddings. She also said that the idea of marriage is ‘more appealing’ to her than the wedding itself.
She said, “I’d rather have a wedding at home than anywhere else. I think it’s important to do all the rituals, but I don’t believe in spending all that money, I find it disgusting and very wasteful, and I’m not okay with that at all.”
Apart from the wedding preparation, Sonam is also busy with her home production movie, Veeray Di Wedding. The film is set to release on June 1, 2018. Sonam will also walk the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival on May 14 and May 15.
