The 75th Golden Globes red carpet was dressed in black

A landmark year in history, the 75th annual Golden Globes took place on Sunday night in Los Angeles. This time around, as the many established leading ladies and men of the cinema and television industry have suggested, it’s more than just the awards show.

Earlier in the month, many of the most powerful women in Hollywood revealed Time’s Up, which is an action plan that seeks to eradicate any cases of sexual harassment and the imbalance of power in the industry. This new movement was on full display at the red carpet of this year’s Golden Globes, as many attendees chose to wear black evening dresses and men in all-black tuxedos.

While these celebrities chose to wear black, they wanted to make it very clear what type of message they were trying to convey. Eva Longoria explains, “This is a moment of solidarity, not a fashion statement. For years, we’ve sold these awards shows as women, with or gowns and colours and our beautiful faces and our glamour. This time, the industry can’t expect us to go up and twirl around. That’s not what this moment is about.”
