The journey of Thrive began when three American expat moms who came across the scores of malnourished children in Bangladesh. The three started simply by promising to make a one time delivery of bananas to a school in the slums of Korail. Gradually they spread the word about their activities via Facebook and surprisingly many people came forward to donate money and food for the children. And that was the jump start of Thrive.
With the mission of connecting global donors and local volunteers, Thrive currently serves over 3000 healthy meals a week to eight slum schools in Dhaka with the help of 150+ volunteers. The foundation of Thrive can’t be successful without their volunteers and donors. One of the game changing partnerships during their initiative was to partner with Direct Fresh in Dhaka. This partnership ensured fresh food at a discounted price.
There are many local and international humanitarian NGO’s that inspire Thrive. Programs like Lunchbox Fund, The FEED foundation, Feed the hungry, Feeding America, Feed the children among others
Being an international organization, Thrive launched their feeding program in Manila and Philippines last year. Their volunteers delivered healthy food over 200 living on the top of discarded waste site called Smokey Mountain. They partnered with the community to wash hands and deliver seasonal fruits, nuts and water.
They offer bi-annual health fairs to address the basic health needs of community deprived of clean water, electricity and toilets.
Thrive functions entirely on individual and corporate donations. They have been a very lean, volunteer-lead organization. On top of that, they have 100% transparency about their funding. More than 90% of their budget goes directly to food for children and the remaining 10% goes toward marketing.
A better present will ensure a better tomorrow. Thrive envisions a world where no one goes hungry. They move the needle towards their goal by providing healthy food to the most disadvantaged children in the communities where they work.
It takes one great cause to inspire another. There are many local and international humanitarian NGO’s that inspire Thrive. Programs like Lunchbox Fund, The FEED foundation, Feed the hungry, Feeding America, Feed the children and many more. They quest for a world where every child a fully nourished and have access to clean water.
