A police constable’s heroic efforts save a bus full of people from the clutches of death in Daudkandi, Comilla

Daudkandi’s OC Abul Kalam Azad, mentioned that their police constable Parvez Miah is to receive an honorary award for saving a bus named ‘Motlob Express’ that sped out of control on its way to Chandpur and fell into a pit full of water next to Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Gouripur on Friday around 11:00am. Parvez, who was on duty at that time, dived into the water pit and swiftly broke through the windows of the vehicle in order to help the passengers on board the sinking bus.  After that, he took another dive into the water to save a 7month old child, 5 women and 12 others and brought them to shore.  Subsequently, fire service and locals later helped in lifting the submerged vehicle back to the road.  Selina Akhter, a primary school teacher told the bdnews24.com that it was Parvez Miah’s quick thinking and bravery that helped save the lives of innocent children along with countless other passengers.

His bravery not only earned him a reward of Tk 5000 but he was also thanked and lauded by the passengers as well as the locals there.  In the evening, Police Super, Poritosh Ghosh claimed that in honor of his bravery Parvez Miah is to be rewarded a sum of Tk 10000.
