On February 14, 2025, Dhaka’s streets came alive with the energy of thousands of runners as the Turaag Active Dhaka 25K returned to Hatirjheel. Following its debut success, the second edition of this internationally certified race delivered an even more exhilarating experience, bringing together over 2,500 participants under the tagline “Run to Save Dhaka’s Heritage” in a shared celebration of heritage, health, and community.
The Turaag Active Dhaka 25K reinforced its mission to connect people with Dhaka’s history and urban beauty. The AIMS-certified course, designed to challenge both seasoned athletes and first-time long-distance runners, guided participants through the city’s most scenic and culturally significant areas.
Sharing his excitement for the return of the event, Sajnan Mohammad, Co-Founder & Managing Director of Run Bangladesh, shared, “This event is a testament to our commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle, showcasing Dhaka’s beauty to the world, and preserving our invaluable heritage.”
The 2025 edition featured three race categories to cater to all fitness levels. The 25K race served as the flagship event, attracting both professional and amateur runners eager to push themselves to greater heights. The 10.3K run offered a competitive yet accessible challenge, while the 3K kids’ run gave young runners an opportunity to experience the thrill of race day.
The excitement began on February 13, 2025, with a Race Expo at the Hatirjheel Amphitheatre, where runners collected their kits, engaged with fitness brands, and connected with fellow participants. From 5:00 AM, over 200 dedicated volunteers managed crucial tasks – kit distribution, hydration, and route guidance – making the Dhaka 25K possible. ‘Seeing the joy and determination on the runners’ faces made all the effort worthwhile. We were proud to be part of something so inspiring!’ shared Mithila, a volunteer leader from Dhaka. On race day, the streets were abuzz with anticipation as the starting gun fired at 5:00 AM from Red Crescent HQ, setting runners off on a journey of endurance and discovery. The event culminated in a celebratory closing ceremony at 8:30 AM at the Hatirjheel Amphitheatre, where top finishers were honoured, and participants reflected on their achievements. The race’s conclusion sparked a wave of personal stories shared by runners, detailing their triumphs and discoveries along the course, and social media quickly filled with vibrant images and videos capturing the event’s energetic atmosphere. Volunteers, integral to the event’s smooth operation, expressed immense pride in contributing to an initiative that celebrated Dhaka’s cultural richness.
