The finale of the widely acclaimed Face of Bangladesh was held on 16 June, the first day of Arka Fashion Week (AFW) Summer ’24, at Aloki Convention Center. Despite the heavy rainfall that afternoon, the seats were packed with an enthusiastic audience.
The competition began with the health and fitness round. In the second round, the contestants presented themselves in fusionwear, where the women were dressed by the well-known designer label Butterfly by Sagufta, while the men’s attire was from O2.
The Face of Bangladesh title was shared by Aklima Atika and Dil Afroz Hasan in the Women’s category, and Zarif Shabab emerged as the winner in the Men’s category.
The women’s outfits were from the luxury designer label Sanaya Couture and the men’s were from Fit Elegance in the final, formalwear round. There were eight male and seven female models participating in this year’s event.
The Face of Bangladesh title was shared by Aklima Atika and Dil Afroz Hasan in the Women’s category, and Zarif Shabab emerged as the winner in the Men’s category. The three of them will be representing Bangladesh at Face of Asia in South Korea this October.
Face of Bangladesh is dedicated to discovering individuals who embody the nation’s aesthetic, cultural, and ethical ideals. The initiative strives to highlight the country’s rich diversity and talent and provides an opportunity for aspiring models to advance in the modelling and entertainment sector.
The judging panel for the finale comprised of six prominent figures from the fashion industry, including Kaniz Almas Khan, CEO of Persona, entrepreneur, and beauty specialist; SK Saifur Rahman, Consultant at Haal Fashion and Deputy Editor of Online Feature Prothom Alo; Raulen Lee, International Cooperation Director at the Asia Model Festival; Kuhu Plamondon, an acclaimed artist; Mehruz Munir, Creative Director at Zurhem; Asad Sattar, Founder of Arka Studio and Arka Fashion Week; and Shirin Akter Shela, Miss Universe Bangladesh 2019, Face of Bangladesh 2019, and Model Star 2022. The Azra Mahmood Talent Camp (AMTC), led by Azra Mahmood, supervised the model hunt programme and competition. AMTC also provided comprehensive modelling training to the selected contestants.
