Voice for Equity

On International Women’s Day 2023, ICE Today and Turn Up PR joined hands together to #EmbraceEquity in order to catalyse a conversation about equality.

The narrative about women’s progress has been continuously evolving with changing socio-economic dynamics. While it is encouraging to note that an increasing number of people in our society are adopting gender-inclusive practices, transforming individual lives requires a more customised approach. We need to recognise that different people have different sets of circumstances, and providing everyone equal opportunities can sometimes be exclusionary. Therefore, in order to achieve real equality, we need to focus on ensuring equity.

An equitable society will comprehend the challenges and allocate the resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome. It is imperative to listen to the women of our society when devising initiatives to make our society more equitable. To that end, upholding the theme of International Women’s Day 2023, ICE Today and Turn Up PR reached out to several women from different walks of life to pick their brains on the subject. We asked them to elaborate on what equity means to them, and what we need to work towards to achieve gender parity. Following that, an overwhelming amount of inspiring responses from over a hundred amazing women filled our inboxes. From managing directors to entrepreneurs, chefs to artisans, all these women echoed their thoughts on equity and how we can work towards making the world more equitable. Each point of view was fresh; different approaches and  ideas, different experiences, all further highlighting the need to understand equity while striving for equality. At the end of the campaign, ICE Today and Turn Up PR published the opinions of these awe-inspiring women so that everyone can widen their scope on this subject and understand the importance of equity.

Our campaign brought women’s experiences and expectations to the forefront of the conversation about ensuring gender equity in Bangladesh. It helped to underscore that the challenges women face every day go far beyond the gender pay gap and social pressures to fulfil family obligations. Our campaign has successfully catalysed a wider range of issues women face in the greater public discourse. As the world gets ready to  #EmbraceEquity, ICE Today and Turn Up PR are proud to be part of this movement that will transform the lives of women around the globe.
