What made you pursue a career in beauty?
As a teenager, I was always interested in beauty, especially in makeup, hair, and fashion. I would do makeup on my friends and family during school days for practice. My passion turned into a profession back in 2014 when I started offering makeup services through a one-room setup. I was still a student who created a page purely out of passion and fun. However, despite my small setup, when clients began to pour in at my place, I started realising the potential of the beauty industry. Consequently, I was motivated to open a salon to provide better services to my clients from then on.

What are some of your most sought after hair makeovers?
At Swing, we offer some of the most trending hair colour shades which compliment Bangladeshi skin tones. They include ash blonde, ash brown, honey blonde and different shades of caramel browns. As a beauty enthusiast, I think Bangladeshis have some of the most beautiful skin tones in the world, and most shades, except brass and orange tones, look beautiful on us. To maintain your hair colour, you must use a sulfate-free, colour protecting, professional-grade shampoo. Also, try to tone your hair every once in a while.

What is your number one advice for brides before their wedding regarding skincare and makeup?
At Swing, we always prioritise the skin over makeup as skincare is the gateway to a flawless base. Make sure to get a good amount of sleep as there are no alternatives to a good night’s sleep.
Take monthly facials. Swing’s ‘Red Carpet Facial’ is a popular choice for brides. As the name suggests, it gets you Red Carpet Ready!
Along with your skin, make sure to get monthly hair treatments done right before your programs. This will make your hair manageable, and you don’t have to dread undoing your hair after your events. Swing’s Hair Loss Treatment is a go-to treatment for many, not only for brides, as it helps to keep the hair less frizzy and manageable temporarily. If you’re looking for a permanent solution, go for Keratin Treatment or Brazilian Blowout. We also recommend getting your hair coloured around 10-15 days before your wedding so that your hair is still vibrant and fresh during your programs.

AT SWING, WE ALWAYS PRIORITISE THE SKINOVER MAKEUP AS SKINCARE IS THE GATEWAYTO A FLAWLESS BASE.

As far as makeup is concerned, give your makeup artist clear instructions and take their advice so that you both can reach a mutual conclusion on what would look best on you. We suggest talking to them about your vision and letting them add theirs to create the magic together instead of rushing and being in confusion on your big day.

What has been the most rewarding part of being a beauty entrepreneur?
I remember a client telling us how she felt confident after getting her hair colour done. She was insecure about how she looked, and simply colouring her hair boosted her spirit. Reactions like these make all the hard work worth it. If you check our Instagram, we keep all the reviews and feedback from clients in our highlights section. Every client’s response makes our day. I sometimes get surprised at how detailed some of the reviews are. The time and effort they spend carefully writing which part of the service they liked and why they’ll be coming back again makes me do a happy dance each time I get a message.
