Star Wars: Solo trailer reaction

Director swaps, acting coaches for Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo), why most of us will never get used to the title Solo: A Star Wars Story and so many other rumours we have finally put to rest. Now, it was down to the full-length, official trailer for a film most of us Star Wars fans weren’t really asking for. And even though we can’t speak for everyone, this trailer did exactly what a trailer should do.

 

It was 2 minutes and 26 seconds of pure entertainment. There are the elements of thrill, action, levity and overall engaging scenes spliced to near perfection. With the cast of characters, notably the ever-so-suave Lando Calrissian, played by the equally smooth Donald Glover, makes for one incredible roller coaster ride. There are plenty of questions to be answered and

While the hype is real, and the trailer doesn’t mean it’ll make for a good film, we can’t deny the affect it’ll have on both open-minded Star Wars fans and average moviegoers. It may not reach the hype or box office numbers of films like Infinity War (April 27), but we can count on it to make a proper dent in the summer list of blockbusters that follow it. And if the trailer itself sets the tone of the rest of the film, rest assured we might be able to mend the fences that were slightly bent by the release of The Last Jedi

With Emilia Clarke (Qi’Ra), Woody Harrelson (Tobias Beckett), Thandie Newton (Val), Paul Bettany (Dryden Vos) and Ron Howard in the director’s chair, all expectations and unanswered questions will present itself on May 25. And let’s not forget experiencing Chewbacca at his prime.
