Last night at the Emmy Awards, a new landmark had been set. Riz Ahmed, a British actor took the award for outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie as the first ever Asian-Muslim. Other nominees in the category were, Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert De Niro, Ewan McGregor, Geoffrey Rush and John Turturro.
He won the award for his role as Nasir Khan in ‘The Night Of’. He was also nominated for Outstanding Guest actor in a comedy series for his performance as Paul-Louis in ‘Girls’.
In his acceptance speech he dedicated the award to the ‘’late, great James Gandolfini.
