Edward Norton is often labeled as one of the best actors of his generation because not only does he choose complex, twisted characters but he manages to deliver phenomenal performances each and every time.
In celebration of Edward Norton’s 48th birthday, here is a recap of five of his best roles onscreen:
Mike Shiner
Although Norton was not starred in this critically acclaimed Birdman, he stole the show delivering an authentic performance using his own theatre wisdom and combining the charisma of his previous roles to portray this explosive, alpha male, method actor.
Aaron Stampler
Originally the character did not have a stutter. But when Edward Norton auditioned for his very first film ever, he took it upon himself to add a little cherry on top. The directors loved his audition so much that they casted him for Primal Fear and made sure to add the stutter to his character.
Jack
Norton is known for playing dark, complex characters and he didn’t disappoint, that is all that can be said. The rest you must watch to see. And if you have already watched it, watch it again. A brilliant plot with a brilliant performance will leave you speechless at the end of Fight Club, every time.
Monty
25th HourNorton managed to deliver every emotion a person may feel in the last 24 hours of their lives through this character in 25th Hour. And the bathroom monologue is a must watch to understand what a talented being he truly is.
Derek Vinyard
This is considered to be Norton’s most remarkable work. To watch how his character transforms from being hateful to being remorseful is fascinating. American History X must watch to see what the hype is about.
Thank you Edward Norton for your extraordinary service in cinema; wishing you a happy 48th birthday!
