We all know that MetGala is Anna Wintour’s answer to the heavyweight Oscar Party organized by Vanity Fair, of course with more vivacity of fashion and style. Undoubtedly she being the Pope of the fashion holds the utmost power to transform the look and feel of fashion’s biggest night out which not only brings the crème de la crème of New York under one roof but also arranges fund for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City.
On the first Monday of the May every year, fashion aficionados around the world wait eagerly to see how the movers and shakers of the Hollywood (and from this year, with Priyanka Chopra from Bollywood) are going to rock the red carpet with their eclectic looks. Just like every year, in 2017, the stars lived up to their hype and dazzled the party. This year’s theme was “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between.” Below are a few looks we absolutely adore.
1. Originally modeled by Anna Cleaveland in Paris, Rihanna Comme des Garçons look was straight off the 2016 fall runway. The dress was made with floral fabrics layered in a petal-esque manner.
2. Guess who looked like a goddess in feathers? Blake Lively, duh! She wore an Atelier Versace gown which had hundreds of golden chains plunging down with peacock blue feather trim train.
3. Selena Gomez looked like a diva in the silk chiffon dress with lace paneling. Mimicking prints of the Coach 1941 Pre-Fall 2017 collection, the dress had hand-sewn floral embroidery.
4. Jennifer Lopez pulled the look of 60s-era Elizabeth Taylor with elan in a bright blue gown resembling the Spring 2017 Valentino couture piece.
5. Desi girl Priyanka Chopra looked like a million bucks in the Ralph Lauren Trench dress. For her first ever appearance on the MetGala red carpet, the Quantico star did make a bold and praiseworthy fashion statement.
