Bishorjon, Kaushik Ganguly’s recent take on the lives and losses of the people living in a border side village won a National Award in the regional category (Bengali). Jaya Ahsan is playing the character of a Hindu widow from Bangladesh, who is the love interest of Abir Chatterjee, playing the character of Nasir, a Muslim man from India. Centered around the Ichamoti river on the Indo-Bangladesh border, this film has Jaya Ahsan delivering one of the best performance of her career as the trailer shows.
When she emerges like a force of nature opening the door in the beginning of the trailer, who was she looking at? Was she looking at Abir Chatterjee?

Her radiant beauty dazzled the screen as she was commuting to her in-law’s house on a bullock cart after the wedding. Even gloom couldn’t overshadow her beauty in that scene. The late Kalikaprasad Bhattacharjee’s melancholic voice will surely strike a chord in your heart as the background score.

The bidi smoking scene shows a dark and twisted turn her character has taken already.
She taunted Abir Chatterjee which seemed like a pun indicating how she had to wear two different shoes being a widow by day and a “prostitute” by night.

That scene where they were parting, tears rolled down her cheek as she consoled Abir to not look back, sacrificing their love.
