The new Thor trailer has been released and here is everything you need to know about it

Our favourite Norse God returns this year in the third installment of the Thor series, Thor: Ragnarok. The teaser was released on Monday and boy do we have a lot to talk about! The Thor series might have been overshadowed by his fellow avengers’ individual films but it looks like we are finally getting a movie that will do him some justice. The two minute clip has given us so much to look forward to.
Let’s talk about some of the highlights
Cate Blanchet as Hela!
I think we can all agree that we are yet to see a convincing villain make an appearance in Thor. I mean Loki is amazing, don’t get us wrong but he is better suited as an anti-hero. Hela though, don’t even get us started. In about 3 seconds, not only does she destroy Mjolnir but with the words “Asgard is dead” the entire Asgard as well… talk about making an impact. Intimidating!
A humbled Thor
Chris Hemsworth reprises his role as Thor but this trailer showed a different side of him. We are so used to seeing Thor be all high and mighty and proud (No surprises, he is a God). However, the trailer opens with Thor chained and hanging in what seemed to be a doomed Asgard. Thor’s trusted hammer, Mjolnir has also been destroyed. We also see Hemsworth in short hair which is a new look for him and indeed a new look for Thor. We also see Thor beaten and captured and transformed into a prized fighter. Things did look up for Thor towards the end though when he is seen sporting a more gladiator look making him seem more like the God of war than the God of thunder.
Hulk vs. Thor
This is not a joke. This is really happening. The two avengers powerhouses locked horn in a gladiator fight. Thor was relieved to see his friend initially but Hulk left his friendship at the door and charges at Thor who retaliates.
Shades of guardians of galaxy
Thor gets captured in the trailer by what seems to be characters from the guardians of the galaxy. A guardian of the galaxy-esque theme can also be observed throughout the clip. What excitement does Marvel hold for us?
Where are Thor’s sidekicks?
An extremely visible fact was the worrying lack of Thor’s allies that could be seen in the teaser. There were no signs of the likes of Lady Sif or the other Warriors three. Idris Elba’s character of Heimdall also does not seem like his usual self.
Valkyrie, Jeff Goldbloom, Loki
It has been confirmed that Tom Hiddlestone will resume his role as Loki which is always a good thing but what was really one of the highlights of the teaser was that Jeff Goldbloom was seen playing the grandmaster! Furthermore the grandmaster and Loki can be seen sharing a seat. Among the many new characters seen in the film was the Valkyrie whom we know nothing about. Already so much to look forward to!
