The Khadi Festival stands as the forefront of fashion events in Bangladesh that upholds what is best known as the rich heritage of our country. Khadi has long been recognised in folk art and is soon being translated into a fashion statement that collaborates Khadi with Bangladeshi folk motifs. Prominent designers such as Maheen Khan opened the show by weighing out the importance of safeguarding Khadi and establishing it as a green fabric. In her words, “the vocabulary of our folk art that speaks the language of this nation and in keeping with this idea, each designer has developed their collection with a single, decorative folk tradition.” The Khadi Festival has brought together ingenious fashion designers under one roof whose work stunned the crowd with both traditional and western wear embodying folk motifs.
