The football matches in Bangladesh have not come to a standstill yet. In the midst of the league matches (2015 Manyavar Bangladesh Football Premier League) the national team also participated in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers for Group B. The matches for the qualifiers kicked off between Bangladesh and Singapore on May 30, at 4:00pm at the Banganbandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. The national team also faced countries like Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in the event. The matches were transmitted live on Channel 9. The first match between Singapore and Bangladesh resulted in the guests defeating the hosts with a score of 2-1. On June 2, Bangladesh was up against Afghanistan which resulted in a draw tying both teams to a score of 1-1. Further into the matches for Group B, Kyrgyzstan came out as the victors defeating the hosts with a score of 3-1. A match between Bangladesh and Tajikistan which was held on June 16 also yielded in a draw with a score of 1-1.
