Social media was left shell-shocked when it was announced that Salman Khan has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for allegedly being involved in poaching. The case that dates back to about 20 years happened during the filming of 1999’s hit, Hum Saath Saath Hain when Salman and his co-stars allegedly shot and killed a Blackbuck. However, Bhai was released just 2 days later.
Blackbucks are an endangered species of antelope and are the last of its kinds. Given its endangered status, it has been placed on safeguard under the Indian Wildlife Protection Act. Not to mention the fact that Blackbucks are considered sacred in the area where the filming took place hence a lot of sentiments were hurt. Bhai has also been alleged of killing Indian Gazelle during the same trip but he was cleared of all charges in 2016. Given Salman’s megastar status, prison would have never worked out in the long-run and the fact that he is currently tied up in $90 million worth of projects doesn’t help the cause either. So we have deviced a few punishments which would have been more appropriate than prison.
Dedicating a portion of Being Human to preserving wildlife
Being Human is always involved in various charitable activities which include providing healthcare and education for the underprivileged. Salman can add saving wildlife to that list.

Even if he doesn’t want to branch out his charitable organization to preserving wildlife, he can always donate to organisations who actually do.

Bhai is arguably one of the most influential people in this subcontinent so imagine how much of an impact his words will have on people. This will also help him rehabilitate his image.
