Jumanji topples Star Wars on The First Day of Release

When Lord Varys’ Little Birds had come to me with news of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, I dismissed the movie right away. Just like many others, after watching the first trailer I was barely considering giving it a chance, but only if I had the time to.

Alas, if only I hadn’t underestimated the movie just like Little Finger had underestimated Sansa, I, rather than Jumanji would’ve been sitting on the Iron Throne.

Expectation

This movie might just beat Zyzzyx Road, becoming the lowest grossing movie of all time

Reality

Beats Start Wars: The Last Jedi

You certainly do not require a hearing aid, you heard it right. It bagged in 16.2 million on the first day; whereas, the latter earned 14.5 million.

Expectation

Star studded cast = poor plot

Reality

Star studded cast, equally fantastic plot

Expectation

Same storyline as Jumanji

Reality

Nothing apart from the name is the same

Just know that four teenagers get zapped into a video game and become the avatar they picked. Can’t go further than this, or else the Spoiler squad will get me.

Expectation

The jokes didn’t quite get me

Reality

*Laughs his rear end off for the whole 2 hours of the movie*

Jumanji blew off everybody’s expectations by delivering a fantastic movie with tremendously well timed jokes and great action scenes along with superb CGI, summing up to a wonderful time at the theatres. A must watch!

P.S: Never judge a movie by its first trailer.
